Selfself Books
AREA: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
2021 - ONGOING
Selfself was born from the need to create a structure and a community that can support young authors and more established photographers in the realization of their photographic projects. Selfself is an independent digital platform, completely developed and managed by a dedicated team that deals with the selection and development of photographic editorial products through the crowdfunding method, allowing each author involved to raise the funds needed to print their own book.

Create and propose visual worlds and visions through a new way of publishing
Fundamental is the involvement of the public and the support of the community, which in this way guarantees an active participation in first person in the creation of the final project. The works selected by the platform are followed at three hundred and sixty degrees, from conception to distribution, supporting the photographers in the management of their work, in the design of the editorial product and in the creation and management of the pre-sale campaign of the book.
The projects that make up each pre-order campaign are part of a strictly personal research that the photographer wishes to present to the public, with the help of the photographer, in order to create an artistic object based on the author-user relationship. Each work is reviewed with the author through an editorial process that aims to finalise the physical paper object, which involves several creative steps to be carried out in unison between the photographer and the platform.
Selfself Books operated from March 2021 to December 2023 as a crowdfunding platform specialising in the production of photobooks. During these almost three years, we produced more than fifty titles through crowdfunding, participated in many national and international festivals, sold copies worldwide, won prizes and distributed the developed projects in a global distribution network. As of January 2024, the platform's mode of operation has changed and it has become a publishing services platform. A point of reference for Italian and foreign photographers who want to produce and distribute their projects independently. Through coaching, direction and development advice to accompany the editing, design, realisation and distribution of a project in the form of a photobook.
